[solved] unraid VM memory on dashboard doesn't match VM configuration

Featured Replies

Can someone help me understand what the "extra" memory is used by/for when comparing the VM memory usage on the unraid dashboard, with the configured memory allocation in the (only) running VM, please?

Dashboard usage:

VM memory configuration:

20480 MB = 19.073486 GiB, so what is the "extra" 4.9 GiB used for?

I can see it reported in top as used by qemu, so I assume some kind of hypervisor overhead?

It just seems a bit high in this case, so I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to reduce it? What influences the size of this "extra" memory usage?

I only have one VM running for these screenshots.

Sigh, never mind, there was another rogue VM running that I didn't notice at first...
