May 18, 201214 yr Hello everyone, thanks to the excellent support from this forum, my first install of unraid is going very smoothly, I should be done moving all of my data to the unraid box within the next 24 hours. So the next step in retiring my windows server is SABnzbd, couch potato, sickbeard, and transmission. I have been doing plenty of reading on how to do this, and so far I think this seems to be the best guide http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Install_Python_based_servers if anyone knows a better guide please advice. If I understood correctly from reading the forum, I have to have a cache drive if I want to install the above mentioned apps, so my questions for now centre around 1) whats the best drive to get to accomplish my tasks, would I realize much benefit from SSD or should I go with a spin drive? 2) If i do go with SSD would a 60-120GB drive be big enough? thank you
May 18, 201214 yr Author I had read that thread, but it is over 2 years old, it doesnt take into account the sata 3 SSDs and their speed EDIT: ok ignore my statement about that thred being dated, I just looked at it again, I only saw the first two pages of replies when I read it, there seems to be 14 pages to go through
May 18, 201214 yr if you are thinking SSD. take a look at this post. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=14695.msg172789#msg172789 while it was aimed at SSD's in ESXi, it is very true for SSD's in baremetal unRAID.
