Unraid randomly hanging

Featured Replies

I'm still trying to track down an issue that's causing Unraid to randomly hang around once a week and requires a hard reboot. I enabled mirroring syslog to flash and have attached the last 2 instances of which this has happened. I also am tracking CPU, memory usage, etc. and it doesn't seem to have any spikes around that time, unless the spike is breaking my tracking as well. I've also since resolved an issue where a docker container has been constantly restarting here: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/192139-unraid-randomly-hanging

Thanks!

Server is running out of memory; the culprit appears to be an app/container that uses Python:

Killed process 15904 (python3)

Are you referencing the log output from Jul 31 19:57:21? I don't see any other logs referencing that and my Unraid instance didn't go down until Aug 1st around 1:50p, so I'm not sure if that's the culprit.

I did have an issue with a specific container going down which I've set a max memory usage for that restarts the container when it hits that watermark to prevent the system from running out of memory, which might be what we're seeing on Jul 31.

Syslog from last diags, OOM events don't typically cause the server to crash immediately but can over time.

I have memory usage tracking (due to the aforementioned container leaking memory which I have a max memory target set) and it's relatively stable leading up to the crash, though. Could there be anything else causing my system to hang?

It could, but I would still recommend fixing that first to rule it out.
