August 22, 2025Aug 22 I am moving from a slowly-dying Synology NAS to an Aoostar WTR Pro running Unraid. I just want to plan the move for the disks and the data. Currently running 2*18TB hard drives in the Synology using SHR (basically mirrored). I can pull one drive and place in the new machine while still having access to the data. Can I just set that drive as a single non-parity array device, copy the data, then move the second drive and make it a parity device once the data has been moved? Also looking for guidance on the best way to move about 12TB worth of data from the Synology? I can probably push using HyperBackup on the Synology but is there a pull method I should consider from the Unraid end?Buying additional HDDs is not an economic reality unfortunately.
