May 22, 201214 yr Hi I am a new user of Unraid with a server 1 month old!! Everything is working Perfect!! Unraid 5.0b14 with 3, 3TB drives, 1 parity, 2 disk in array. I use it mostly as a Media Server to stream Movies and TV shows to a variety of Plex clients!! I am running Plex Media Server, Sickbeard & Sabnzb combo just fine!!! everything is working fine!! I also have simple features with all the plugins installed!! I want to reduce heat and HD wear to prolong server life!! I am using the simple features Sleep script but it does not sleep the system by itself!! I have to manually press the sleep button to be able to sleep the server!! when I do this it works great and I am able to wake the server from my iPhone with no problems and after the sleep everything is working as expected!! One thing that I have notice is that my Disk2 Spins down but my Parity and Disk1 Doesn't!!! The problem of the drives not spinning down and the server NOT going to sleep can be a Plex Media Server, Sickbeard & Sabnzb issue? If a get a cache drive and put the apps in the cacche drive, does this help with the issue? I have all the apps libraries, and settings installed in Disk1. Can somebody shed some light on the simple features sleep settings? maybe I have some settings wrong!!! I just want to be able to Sleep the server when there's no activity!! I only use the server at nights so theres no need to have it running all day wasting power!!
May 22, 201214 yr Hi, I experience the same and all I can say is it is plex causing this. It constantly checks the library for changes/updates and so on. Sickbeard & Sabnzb will let the server go to sleep as far as I remember. But I think they had problems after wake up... By the way: A cache disk won't help... I am also open for suggestion.
May 22, 201214 yr Shut the services down before sleep. Start back up on wake. That's likely the best option.

My problem is the server doesn't go to Sleep or spin down the drives by itself!! I just want to know if this is caused by any of the apps installed? and if I put the apps in a cache drive the array will finally spin down!!

How can I put all my apps in a folder in the cache drive so the mover script DOES NOT move the files? I need to use a folder like .apps and in there I put the files or there's a way to use a regular folder without the . at the beginning? I want to be able to view the files from my computer and not have to show invisible files all the time!!

If using a recent version of unRAID (5.0b14 should be fine) you can set a userShare as "Cache only" That setting will keep the mover script from moving the folder and its contents to the array. I have 3 such userShares set up on my machine and it works perfectly well.

That is the default schedule...But what happens if the server is sleeping at the time it is suppose to move the files?Nothing happens. The files do not get moved. does they move when the server is waken up?No, they would move the next night at the same time as usually scheduled. My question is because I regurlay keep the server at sleep for a few days and wake it up only when I want to wacht a movie or TV series.Then you should schedule the mover for a time other than in the middle of the night, otherwise, files will never move. Or, click on the move-now button. 3. Does the files downloaded from sickbeard-Sabnzb also goes to the cache drive? or it will download directly to the array?No way for us to know. It is something YOU configure on your server.
