๐Ÿš€ What is qbit-guard?

qbit-guard is a zero-dependency Python tool designed to protect your media library by acting as a smart guardian for qBittorrent downloads.

It works seamlessly with Sonarr and Radarr to intelligently filter out problematic torrents before they clutter your storage.

โœจ Key Features

  • ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Pre-air Episode Protection
Blocks TV episodes that havenโ€™t aired yet, with configurable grace periods (Sonarr integration).

  • ๐Ÿ“‚ Extension Policy Control
Flexible allow/block lists for file extensions with configurable strategies.

  • ๐Ÿ’ฟ ISO/BDMV Cleaner
Detects and removes disc-image-only torrents that donโ€™t contain usable video.

  • ๐Ÿ“› Smart Blocklisting
Adds problematic releases to Sonarr/Radarr blocklists before deletion, using deduplication and queue failover.

  • ๐ŸŒ Internet Cross-verification
Optional TVmaze and/or TheTVDB API integration to verify air dates.

  • ๐Ÿ Zero External Dependencies
Runs on Python 3.8+ with only the standard library.

  • ๐Ÿ“ฆ Container-Friendly
Fully configurable via environment variables, logging to stdout for easy Docker integration.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Why Use qbit-guard on Unraid?

  • Save Storage Space โ†’ Prevent wasted space on pre-release or unusable torrents.

  • Improve Media Quality โ†’ Block junk releases automatically.

  • Save Bandwidth โ†’ Stop downloads youโ€™ll just delete anyway.

  • Automate Your Workflow โ†’ Reduce manual cleanup with smart rules.

  • Made for Unraid Dockers โ†’ Simple to set up alongside qBittorrent, Sonarr, and Radarr.

This looks interesting, i did a quick search on CA and see no template (unless im going blind!), any chance you will create a template for this, i see the docker compose/run commands:- https://gengines.github.io/qbit-guard/#quick-start-docker-run

EDIT - FWIW i created a container using the example docker compose and the script ran well so i have created a template for this, it can be found on CA shortly.

Few changes have been made to add support of TMDB which is exclusive for Movies, more details are available in the https://gengines.github.io/qbit-guard

Notable ones:

  • Added "Detailed" Logging option, to see whats being blocked when it occurs

  • Added Radarr pre-air check as well, due to limitations with TVDB and Radarr, TMDB API is being used, which required API KEY to be provided for best results, if no API KEY is provided it will fallback to radarr api.

  • TMDB API Support for Radarr

  • Documentation revised to show new changes and additions.

  • File Filters which selectively downloads files ensuring blocked extensions are not downloaded. ( No need to set up qbit torrent download filters anymore )

unRAID CA App has been updated to show the newer changes

  • 7 months later...

Has anyone else been having this issue? This container was working perfectly before, but then it just randomly stopped.
