Had a drive fail during parity drive upgrade. How hosed am I?

Featured Replies

At some point over night, while the new parity drive was rebuilding, there was a drive failure. Tried to roll back to the old parity drive, but can't get the array started, because the array wants the new parity drive.

How can I get the array started with the old parity drive to rebuild the failed drive?

Diags are after rebooting, which disk gave the errors?

It was disk #2 - and the original parity drive is the one shown.

SMART looks fine for disk2, run an extended SMART test on it and post the results.

Disk2 is OK, at least for now, I would recommend replacing disk2 cables to rule that out, then doing a new config (tools - new config) and trying again to sync the new parity. Any errors, post new diags before rebooting.

Great! It looks like it's rebuilding! And...... most importantly, it appears the data is all there. :D :D :D Fingers crossed!
