September 7, 2025Sep 7 I've bought a refurbished Seagate Exos16 12TB SATA Hard Drive. Plugged it into my PC and did smart and HDDScan read test on all sectors, no reported bad sectors. Once i plugged it into my Unraid server, it started showing errors in the array so i did the normal procedure and turned it off, replaced SATA cables and had a power supply waiting to go in as mine was a bit sketchy so i took the opportunity to replace that as well. Same issue continued. I replaced the disk with other ones and no errors, tried it on the SATA ports and on the LSI HBA as well. Took the disk out and checked firmware on the PC again, it was on SS03 so i updated the disk firmware to the latest SS04 version. Put it back in and still have errors. But nothing on SMART test. Any idea what it could be? September 8, 2025Sep 8 Community Expert Since the issue persists, it suggests an actual disk problem, despite the good looking SMART, try a different disk if possible.
