Question about the buttons

Featured Replies

Hey,

I have a question about the power off and reset buttons. I have a 1.5 year old second daughter and I found out that she really likes to press the buttons...

I have a DELL 5820 server. Is there a setting somewhere where I can disable the power button functionality after startup??

Thanks in advance for any advice

I would look at putting some sort of physical shield over the power and reset buttons.

Does the power button do a hard power cut, or does it do a soft shutdown?

If the latter you can do this:

Works a treat. Make sure you realise what this means (requiring ssh / console access for reboot / shutdown -h now)

(I'm still on 6.12.15 so haven't tested on 7)

Hello, when you press the button, a soft shutdown is performed. I'll try the adjustment, the server should still be able to be shut down using the software button on the dashboard, right?

She's very smart, I tried that first and it took her a while to figure out how to remove the cover :D
