September 18, 2025Sep 18 1st time poster and really am unraid newbie really, only ever used it's basic functions for backing up my data and also storing films etc for Jellyfin. My troubles started after building a new to me server from a new Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2 server edition case with a second hand Aorus Ultra X570 and 3950x 32gb 3600 ddr4 and rtx 3060.. I moved over the 10g nic and sas controller also and the 4 x 16tb drives. 1 parity and the others collectively just a touch over 50% full. After removing the drives out of the old server and placing them down on the anti stay bag the motherboard came in, after about 5 mins I was ready to put them in the new case... Got everything finally booting with a little messing around in Bios to get it booting from the Unraid USB and unraid reports that disk 2 and 3 are missing even though they are connected the same way as Parity and Disk 1. I've tried all the possible combinations of swap cables, ports etc to no avail... The 2 x 16tb Seagate Exos drives don't even spin up on boot so something is very wrong, the other 2 spin up when turned on. I'm wondering what I can really do with them now other than look to the very expensive route of data recovery. The information on there isn't life or death data but would be incredibly frustrating and impossible to recreate data so if I can recover it then it would be brilliant. If anyone has any ideas then I'm all ears.... Remember I am fairly dumb in this tech world so be kind 😊

September 19, 2025Sep 19 Community Expert I wonder if the disks that are not being seen suffer from the 3.3v issue (google it for more info)? How are they powered?
September 19, 2025Sep 19 Author The 2 affected disks aren't seen in BIOS or Disk Management. I have a M.2 that was in the donor PC that I put into the top slot of the MB. I was going to wipe it when I had the Unraid Server back up and running but unitl then I've been able to boot into WIndows and check if its in Disk Management and they are not in there either..... Seems very hardlware level failure to me but if anyone else has any ideas I'm all ears 👍

If not that then one would think the drives have failed. If it IS the 3.3v issue, then an alternative to taping over the problem pin is to use a molex->sata adapter to power it as that does not have a 3.3v pin.
September 19, 2025Sep 19 Did you try changing to the old PSU?Have a similar problem - the new PSU disk won't show or spin up after powering on.When I plug in the old PSU, everything works. Edited September 19, 2025Sep 19 by Raptor

Does the new PSU have any molex connectors? If so then the easiest solution is using a molex->sata adapter to power the drives as the molex connector does not have a 3.3v pin.
September 19, 2025Sep 19 Author Solution Thank you to all that have given their opinions on the issue. I have researched the 3.3v thing and took the advice above about using some molex to Sata.. Lucky my modular power supply comes with one with only molex on so even though I have now exhausted my supply of molex to Sata, it means I can happily add more to the array in the future without worrying about not being powered up 👍Thanks again to all that contributed... It's been a stressful night, hardly any sleep but now fixed... Bloomin 3.3v 🤦🏻👍👍
