September 22, 2025Sep 22 Following on from https://forums.unraid.net/topic/193578-recovery-from-a-dead-disk-and-usb-corruption/It turns out the 8TB parity disk itself seems fine, if I connect it to my Mac, I can format it, Disk First Aid says its ok, etc.But here's the weird thing: if I connect it to my UnRAID array it 'confuses' the array, it seems. If I connected it while it still had the parity data, the drives all disappeared from UnRAID as if they were disconnected. After formatting it, and connecting it, most of the drives then appear in the Unassigned Devices section with status 'ARRAY', except one of the 4TB drives.I notice the device identifier for the 'problem' disk and one of the other disks is the same string, but with a 2 on the end rather than a 3.Has anyone heard of such a thing?
