September 24, 2025Sep 24 I'm relatively new to Unraid, even though I've been running various NAS setups. Anything from Synology to DIY solutions.I've been wondering how to properly create and share user folders. The typical solution of creating "homes" share doesn't seem to work on 7.1.4 I'm currently running. I can't even access it regardless of the settings. What is the Unraid standard way of exposing user home shares, short of creating a generic share and adding and configuring user directories manually?

September 24, 2025Sep 24 Look at these sections of the manual:https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/system-administration/secure-your-server/user-management/andhttps://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/using-unraid-to/manage-storage/shares/If you are using Windows, it may require that you log into your Unraid server. (security issue.)See here for doing that:https://forums.unraid.net/topic/191221-some-musings-on-smb-and-samba-and-unraid-and-windows/#findComment-1561581And the next few posts. (the entire thread will provide you with a lot of information...)
September 24, 2025Sep 24 Author Thanks, that's quite extensive information. Putty, there is no automated way to create user's home folders.
