Can't start array due to "Unassigned device" that can't be unmounted

Featured Replies

The KVM which is attached to my Unraid server also acts as a USB storage device to allow remote booting from ISOs.

This "device" is automatically recognized in Unraid and seems to count against my device limit even though it is not assigned to the array. Due to this I can no longer start my array.

The only way I have been able to start the array is by disabling the virtual USB device, which is a workaround, not a solution.

The device limit applies to all storage devices attached to the server (at the point you start the array) regardless of whether they are used in the array or a pool or left unassigned.

You will therefore have to continue with the device disabled or switch to a licence that allows for more devices.

So there is no way to simply unmount the device and continue using Unraid? I get the six device limit but it really doesn't make sense to include devices that can't even be used.

If it shows up as an sdX device, this should allow you to drop it offline, note that it will come back after a reboot.
