October 14, 2025Oct 14 Wanted to ask the group. How do folks power sata drives I have daisy sata power connector and I think this is causing problems and drives are going offline. So wanted to ask what is a better solution
October 14, 2025Oct 14 Ideally not more than 4 drives per PSU cable.MOLEX to SATA splitters are better than SATA to SATA splitters.

Keep it to a MAX of 4 per connector and stay far far away from the SATA splitters and any other molded style splitter connectors. I added my own additional connectors to the PSU feed lines, they punch down just like ethernet jacks. In my experience, Toshiba drives are very sensitive to power fluctuation.
October 14, 2025Oct 14 Author The reason I thought it was power is I had 2 similar Unraid servers which were powered by daisy chain sata and both had issues with drives going offline thanks for the advice I won’t be doing that again
