"Out Of Memory errors detected on your server" Message Appeared

Featured Replies

I went to check on my server and saw that I had received a notification from the Fix Common Problems tool stating that I had run out of memory.

The notification is timestamped Oct 15, 04:40. My memory has been fine since then as I have occasionally checked on it, and I haven't received the notification again.

It seems like the next steps were instructing me to post my diagnostics here, so that is what I am doing.

Brief system info:

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X 32-Core

ASUS ROG STRIX TRX40-E
64 GiB DDR4
2 parity, 26 disks

I have Unraid mostly hosting some *arr apps and a Plex Server as well as a VM, which crashed at some point in the last week when I noticed it was no longer running tonight.

Plex scheduled tasks/maintenance start at 4AM. I know they take a while to complete, but I'm not sure if they were still running at the time the server ran out of memory.

Looks like maybe sonarr was doing work that ran the host OOM, you can reboot to clear the log so it stops warning you and if it happens again, check its config or limit the RAM to the container. You also have problems with really long filenames unable to be copied/moved so you should trim them down to a more reasonable length that the filesystem can manage.

Instance:

Sep 21 06:00:07 Tower shfs: copy_file: /mnt/cache/media/Movies/The Devil Comes at Night (2023)/The Devil Comes at Night (2023) [imdb-tt23571868][WEBDL-1080p][8bit][h264][EAC3 5.1]-RABiDS.mkv /mnt/disk23/media/Movies/The Devil Comes at Night (2023)/The Devil Comes at Night (2023) [imdb-tt23571868][WEBDL-1080p][8bit][h264][EAC3 5.1]-RABiDS.mkv.partial (5) Input/output error

Thank you!

I'll look into what Sonarr might be doing... it might be a backup plus some other scheduled tasks.

For that input/output error, I am pretty sure I'm using the trash guides file naming structure. I will review that though, the path is quite long when the movie's name is also long. Looking at the destination folder, it does look like the file was successfully copied, despite the error.

For storage file names, I'd ditch the encode data unless you really need it for something and just keep the imdb if you're worried about Plex or whatever matching

Good idea! I will look into that. I'm just going through some other things that I have running to make sure I won't be removing anything that I use elsewhere.

I appreciate your help!
