Network not functioning after upgrade

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I'm on 6.12.10 (I know, it's a bit outdated) and I'm trying to upgrade. Proceeding with the download and subsequent reboot, I find that the server can no longer contact the outside world, as if the network card has failed.

This happens with any version I try to install. I am forced to downgrade and revert to my current version.

What can I check? Can I paste my diagnostic file for you?

Either post-upgrade when the network stops working, or better yet, a previous one to check if there is any setting that then conflicts with the actual upgrade.

The Realtek driver needed is being blacklisted; remove /config/modprobe.d/r8169.conf from the flash drive and reboot.

That did the trick!

Just for reference for future me, why it happened and how did you find out?

Thank you

It would not have happened automatically; most likely either it was manually blacklisted, or at some point the Realtek driver plugin was installed and not correctly uninstalled.
