cannot get ip adress anymore

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I've built my unraid server last year and everything was working great.

and then, i've had issues for few weeks : sometimes, unraid was not getting ip adress from my router. I had to reboot two or three times, or change router port, and it was getting back again. It was a mistery,  but it was working at the end.

And this morning, I rebooted server and it's not get ip adress at all !!  I have tried all that i've done before but nothing works.

So, i cannot login on telnet, you will find informatin that i can read on my console :

- ifconfig :

eth0 : Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr d8:5d:4c:81:52:8e
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets : 0 error:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets : 8 error:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0B) TX bytes:4720 (4,6 KiB)

lo : Link encap:local loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets : 79 error:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets : 79 error:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:5464 (5,3KiB) TX bytes:5464 (5,3 KiB)

- ethtool :

advertised auto-negociation: Yes
Speed : 100 Mb/s
Duplex : full
PHYAD : 0
Transceiver : internal
auto-negociation: on
supports wake-on : pumbg
wake-on : G
current message level: 0x000000033 (51)
link detected: yes

Edit : I have tried with static ip adress:

192.168.0.103

255.255.255.0

192.168.0.254

and dhcp: no. Not working..

Thank you for your help !

Have you tried a different network cable or port on your router/switch?

Does your router have a link test function?  Some do, will tell you if a specific port has a link and what speed that link is....

Myk

If you look at the router, what do the link lights show for the port in question?

Your network card may have crapped out, or it could be the cables/connectors anywhere along the line.

Swap things out, one at a time, and test. Start with the easy stuff first (e.g. cables).

I can't because I cannot log to it, that's why i wxrote everything manually!;

That's I did before to post but it does not work.

So, I connected tower directly to another PC, using fixed ip adress.

PC : 192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.0 / gateway : 192.168.1.1
Tower : 192.168.1.2 / 255.255.255.0 / gateway : 192.168.1.1

It works perfectly. Conclusion: I have to buy an other router :(

But when I launch ethtool, it indicates that my link is 100 Mbits, althought my both (tower & PC) cards are 1000 Mbits.

Any idea ?

thanks
