May 29, 201214 yr My current data--disk1--is a WD20EARX drive that I hadn't done a preclear on and I'd like to do one. I have as my parity drive a precleared WD20EARS and I performed a Parity build--worked fine, zero errors anywhere. I currently have a HD204UI going through a preclear and it will be done soon. So from my understanding, if I shut the system down and pop in the HD204UI in place of the disk1 (WD20EARX), assigning the disk1 slot to the HD204UI, and start up the array, unRaid shoudl recognize this and rebuild disk1 from the parity drive (WD20EARS), right? Once rebuilt, I can then preclear the WD20EARX and add it to the array and user share, rebuild the parity and all will be good?
May 29, 201214 yr Yup. And it will act as a nice test of your system, since you'll still have your data on the original data drive until you perform the pre-clear.
June 2, 201214 yr Rebuilding any drive takes roughly the same time as a parity check. Doesn't really matter how full or empty, unRaid doesn't rebuild files, it recreates the entire drive.
