Tower case for upto 20 datadisks?

Featured Replies

Are there any tower cases that can hold upto 4 5in3s (SuperMicro CSE-35T), and have the option to mount 2 drives internally?

Antec 1200? Just go on Newegg and search for cases with 12 half height bays.

I just finished putting the last bits in my Antec 1200 case.  All told it was more expensive than a Norco 4224 but by spreading the purchases out it was more palatable.

In the 1200 I have:

3 Norco SS-500s 5x3's (2 with the quiet fan mod, 1 without, just waiting on the fan to come in, these are really loud) (~$90 each)

1 IcyDock 3x2 (~$70)

1 IcyDock 4X1 (2.5" drives(unRaid Cache, datastore drives)) (~$60)

All of that plus the 2.5" mount in the bottom = 23 drives

Before the last SS-500 this system was quieter than the laptop I had sitting on top of it, now I don't hear the desk fan running behind me.

Of note... I got Swif2-800 fans, thought I ordered Swif2-801.  Now that summer is here and my office is 75F the temps in the modded SS-500s run about 10C higher than the non-modded one, I'm getting as high as 42C on parity checks and 32-38C in normal operation.  The 801 fans have a higher flow than the 800's.
