Shares have no data in them anymore

Featured Replies

I upgraded about a week ago to 7.2. My server had been working fine up to that point and worked fine after the upgrade too. But then I started having issues with docker and the apps would keep showing up as having "bad parameter" errors. I was slowly working through that over the past few days but today I logged in and all the data in my shares is gone. I used to have several TBs of data and now I have like 27GB of data in my shares....although it doesn't show me what files that 27GB actually is. I'm not sure how to even go about fixing it....and worried I'll somehow make it worse anyway. I have a lot of the data saved off on other drives somewhere but getting it reloaded and resorted is gonna suck. Any suggestions on what to try? I tried going to the disks from terminal and it shows the folders but no files. I tried looking via the built in web gui file manager and it shows the folders and no files. I did note a bunch of errors in the "Fix Common Problems" app but I have no idea what to do with any of them. What it shows is below. Is my data just gone?

Invalid folder buildkit contained within /mnt

Generally speaking, most times when other folders get created within /mnt it is a result of an improperly configured application. This error may or may not cause issues for you  More Information

All the disks are empty, the most common options for this happening are having the server internet-facing and being hacked, or a badly configured media container doing cleanup.

If you don't have backups, best bet to recover is using a file recovery app, like UFS Explorer, but make sure you don't make new writes to the disks.

Ok. That is what I was afraid of. I wonder what happened. Must have been a bad cleanup. Thanks for helping me.
