Electrical issue with three drives and restoration.

Featured Replies

So i had a bad power cable that took three drives offline 2 of them are fried but the third is good, i put it in another machine to test it. But, i have three drives offline and only 2 parity drives. Is there a way to mark the 1 drive as good, and then have it rebuild the two other drives from parity when i start the array?

Do you mean there are 3 disabled/invalid drives with dual parity? That should not happen unless you are running an old release. Post a screenshot from the GUI main page.

OK, so there are only two disabled disks; the other one is just missing, shame that's not the one you have, but if parity is valid, you should still be able to recover, you need to have a couple of spare disks to use in place of the missing disks 6 and 10:

-Tools -> New Config -> Retain current configuration: All -> Apply

-Check all assignments and assign any missing disk(s) if needed, including the new disks 6 and 10, replacement disks should be same size or larger than the old ones

-IMPORTANT - Check both "parity is already valid" and "maintenance mode" and start the array (note that the GUI will still show that data on parity disk(s) will be overwritten, this is normal as it doesn't account for the checkbox, but it won't be as long as it's checked)

-Stop array

-Unassign disks 6 and 10

-Start array (in normal mode now), and post new diagnostics
