Unmountable Disk Present: UNRAID 7.1.1

Featured Replies

Hi - first time poster, long time UNRAID user.

One of my disk arrays is currently showing as "unmountable disk present" under 'Array Operation'.

Background, I stopped my server to clean the inside of dust. I completed the cleaning and when I started it back up, one of my UNRAID drives was disabled (disk 2). I followed the instructions here (https://www.reddit.com/r/unRAID/comments/u3nhmg/how_do_i_reenable_a_disabled_disk_drive/), but stopped the array, started in maintenance mode to see if I could reassign the drive but the server never recognized the drive to assign to a slot. So I did a clean shutdown of the server and checked all the wires to make sure they were tight.

Once I restarted the array, I was able to reassign the disabled drive (disk 2), but now a different drive (disk 6) is unmounted (and still gives the green gumball). The original disabled drive (disk 2) is currently in data-rebuild but is going incredibly slow (estimated finish currently at 19 days).

I'm at a loss on where to start with this so any help would be greatly appreciated. I attached my current system log but if there's anything else I can provide, please let me know.

Thanks

There are constant ATA errors with disk6, check/replace its cables and post new diags after array start

Thanks JorgeB,

Disk 2 was in the process of a data rebuild (it paused last night and I just restarted it). However, the data rebuild is going incredibly slow (estimated finish is in 15 days at 4.5 MB/sec). Note - after the process paused and I restarted it, it is now saying it's a read-check in progress, yesterday it was a data-rebuild.

Can I do a clean shutdown of the server now, check cables (probably replace disk's 2 and 6 cables), and then start the array? Or do I need to wait until the process is finished on Disk 2 before doing a clean shutdown?

Yep, do it now, it's not a good idea to continue with all those ata errors.

Thanks JorgeB - doing that now and will see if that works.

Thanks again for your help

I just finished replacing all old cables and restarted the array. I reassigned disk 2 (the original drive that was disabled) and have started the data-rebuild process again. All drives are assigned and diagnostics are attached. I think I am good with this error until after it rebuilds (and the speed has increased 10x at least)

Thanks again for the help

Looks good, no disk related errors so far
