Unraid, dune and xbmc

Featured Replies

I never experimenten xbmc but it looks Nice.

Is there à possibility to put. Xbmc on unraid and let it play/control with à dune mediaplayer?

I think you're mixing everything together...

As far as I know, Dune can't control XBMC and even if it does, there is really no point. XBMC replaces Dune as a media player.

XBMC can access media stored on your unRAID server and you can even store the library (database) if needed. XBMC is not an application/plugin you can run directly via unRAID though. However you could probably install a virtual machine and run XBMC and unRAID simultaneously. But I doubt it's what you're willing to do...

In clear, get some hardware and build a XBMC machine. Then throw away your Dune. 8)

No i prefer the dune for mediaplayer..

But i want the dune as external xmbc player...

The library on unraid...

As xmbc itself...

I like the auto cover scraping from xmbc though, thatswhy :)

In XBMC terms, external player means software player such as MPC-HC or PowerDVD. Dune is a hardware player.

Either I'm totally unaware of XBMC possibilities or you're totally misinformed. I advise you to learn a bit more about XBMC first...

I am not sure that helps you - it is all about using XMBC running on a Windows PC and having that PC run a program to allow XBMC on that machine to command your Dune player to then play something else.  All possible, I guess, but not quite what you were asking for in your first post.  Or are you into running stuff on virtual machines?

Believe he wants the nice xbmc "interface" with his Dune player..which won't work.

Here is a good resource for a Dune "movie wall" interface - Zappiti.

There is also YaDis

Believe you can just setup the Zappiti output folder onto an unRAID drive after the initial setup...
