Reboot causes some/all VMs and Dockers to disappear.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have started to have this problem.

After just about every reboot recently, I lose some Dockers and some (sometimes all) VMs from my unRaid installation. I really don't know how long this has been going on, as the system has been stable for ages. I only noticed it when going from 7.1.? to 7.2.0. At that point I figured I'd done something silly, so I reinstalled all the Dockers and VMs manually. All the original files, etc, in the VMs were as they should be after it was reinstalled. For example, after reinstalling VM for Win 11 Pro, all I had to do was go through the initial installation in 'Add a VM', and it was all back again. I didn't actually have to go through MSFT's installation. It was as if unRaid had lost the link between the VM and its .img. The same thing happened with Win 10 Pro, and 2 x Linux distros in the 1st reboot.

Although I suspect not documented on the Diagnostics file, I had earlier installed Immich as per SpaceInvader / AlienTech42 YT videos, and it had been working fine. After the 1st reboot/reinstallation, all the photos were still there in their appropriate folders, but after the 2nd reboot instance days later, the share folder was there, but empty.

As I figured it was going to happen again (and I wasn't disappointed!), I took a couple of screen shots both before and after. The docker 'vm_custon_icons' was lost, but 'HomeAssistant_inabox' reappeared (Interesting, as I had deleted it a week or so back and thought I had removed all trace of it.).

Fix Common Problems says everything is OK from its point of view.

Photo 2: S/shot of MC showing all the VM directories with VMs recently used and still there.

Photo 3: S/shot of dashboard after reboot showing the single VM left, and some original Dockers, and the unrequested reappearance of HomeAssistant_inabox.

While I consider myself reasonably well versed in PC stuff, server idiosyncrasies are outside my area of expertise, so.... Help?

Thanks,

Magani.

Not seeing anything obvious, do see that the system and appdata shares exist on the pool and the array. While just this doesn't explain the issue, I would recommend consolidating all the files in one place, typically the pool.

Thanks, Jorge. Good idea. (I actually thought I'd done that before, but ???)
