Had trouble reaching server while doing backup...

Featured Replies

I backup most of my server data to a large drive.  I was backing up a large amount of data using a program called goodsync on one computer (windows 7).  I think goodsync said it was operating at 25 MB per second.  I was backing up some very large files.  Meanwhile, I could not "access" the server using another computer using windows 7.  I tried both windows media center (to access recorded TV) and then just windows explorer.  Neither would respond in the sense that I was never able to access the files/server directories.  This morning, after the backup, everything is fine.

Both computers have cat6, gigabit connections to the server (and the server of course has a gigabit connection).

Is this normal?  If not, is there a way to debug/correct it?
