December 17, 2025Dec 17 I have an issue that no amount of scouring the internet has managed to solve. And to be honest I'm pulling my hair out.Every time I reboot, my parity drive is never found, but it is found in the logs but never matched.I've rebuilt the entire PC, changed all the cables and replaced the PSU all for other reasons. I wondered if it was something to do with the name of the drive being a bit strange, but I'm open to other ideas. The drive is named WDC_WD6005FFBX-68CAUN0_WDC-ROM_SN#_XYZ---- ark-diagnostics-20251217-1027.zip

December 17, 2025Dec 17 Community Expert The disk is not showing the serial number correclty:Device Model: WDC WD6005FFBX-68CAUN0Serial Number: WDC-ROM SN# XYZ----Look for a firmware upgrade, but I suspect you will need to replace it.

I've looked at the identity data for the other drive I bought at the same time and it's this.Device model: WDC WD6005FFBX-68CAUN0Serial number: WD-202507010913LU WWN device id: 0 000000 000000000All my others look very different.A serial number with the date, and a blank id is a red flag. Luckily they are only a couple of months old so contacted Amazon who have said send them back for a refund. Thanks for everyones help.
