I ran new permissions on appdata share (I listened to gemini)

Featured Replies

Hi

I ran the new permissions tool on the appdata share due to the tor docker wouldn't let me add the config file to it due to not having permissions.

Now all the folders in the docker appdata is empty and all the docker conatiners don't work,

I cannot delete anything in the appdata share to start fresh vis SMB.

Tried reinstalling the docker containers and they don't work and trying to delete something in the appdata share even with docker service disabled.

First, restore your appdata from backup. Then stop the docker service and delete the docker.img file and start the service again. It will recreate the img file. Now go to apps->previous apps and install all your containers from there.

What do you mean? You didn't restore from a backup, or you don't have a backup of your appdata?

The restore didn't change anything in the share, all my old docker folders are there with nothing in them as before

When was the backup from, and how did you restore it?

The 19th and through the appdata backup plugin.

I installed plex and it keeps stopping and starting in the logs.

ibc++abi: terminating with uncaught exception of type boost::filesystem::filesystem_error: boost::filesystem::create_directories: Permission denied [system:13]: "/config/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Cache", "/config/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Cache"

Stopping Plex Media Server.

And you ran the new permission tool today or before the 19th? If you go to your appdata backup and open one of the tar files, is the data there?

So the appdata backup plugin is failing to restore the data then. Have you looked at the log in the appdata backup plugin, what does it say? You can try to delete the whole appdata folder and try the restore again. If you can't delete the appdata folder you can do it from command line with midnight commander. Open a terminal and type mc and hit enter. navigate with mouse or arrow keys to /mnt/user/ and wherever your appdata folder is. Then delete the folder, see at the bottom of the window which key to press, mine is F8.

If it fails to restore the data again you may need to manually unpack all the tar files to your new appdata folder. Once all the data is back continue to my first post about stopping the service and deleting the docker img. But you need to get all the data back first before you install the containers again.

It says it was all done in the logs but nothing changed in the appdata, Tbh I just want to use the dockers again but when Im downloading plex it doesn't have permission so I probably need to start from scratch.

Are you sure it's restoring to the same location? If you backup is indeed before you ran the new permission tool all you need is to restore it and install the containers again and you should be good. But if you want to start from scratch that's up to you.

Yeah I checked but even if I didn't the new docker containers would have made folders and got their own web gui working, I tried to delete it but it didn't change anything, thanks for your suggestions so far

Go to Settings - Docker and Disable Docker.

Use the builtin File Manager to delete all the folders in the appdata share.

That should allow you to start from scratch.

I didn't tell you to delete the appdata share, just its contents.
