New drive space not being used [Solved]

Featured Replies

I recently added a second data drive into my unraid server 5.0-rc3.  The new drive is not being used for any added data, and when I check my share (Media) the computed space does not include my new drive.  I am not 100% sure how it is all supposed to function, I thought that even if no data is currently being stored on the new drive, if it is included in the share, it ought to be shown with its free space??

I realize many problems like this are due to settings, and I may have things set improperly to have the server act as I want.  I would appreciate any help getting the server to include my newly added disk (disk 2) into the existing share.  I have a couple screen shots that may help answer questions about my settings, and file structure.  Please feel free to ask for more info if I am not giving all that is needed to diagnose the issue.

Try first to reboot the server.

It might be that due to High water allocation the second drive might start to get filled when the first disk has less than 500GB free, but I'm not sure of that.

This is a known issue. You don't have to reboot, but you do at least have to stop, and then start your array after adding a new drive.

I have already attempted to fix the issue by stopping, and restarting the array, also tried to reboot the server, and also tried stopping and restarting samba.

Fyi because I was so close to filling 75% of the 2tb drive (the new drive #2 was 1tb), I went ahead and put it over the 75% mark.  After that was done, the very next file transfer caused the server to create a media folder, and the associated sub folder (music) on the new drive.  It appears it was only my lack of understanding of proper operation that was broken!!  Thanks for the help!
