Adding new drives but I am struggling

Featured Replies

Merry Christmas!!!

I’m trying to add three drives to Unraid. I have two 24TB drives that I want to add to parity (currently, I have one 12TB parity drive). After that, I should be able to wipe them and add them to my array. The last drive is a 20TB. However, I’m having issues doing this—could you please check my diagnostic logs? Right now, I’m just trying to add the second drive first, but I’m getting a ton of errors during the rebuild, and it keeps pausing.

Looks more like a connection issue, or a controller issue, since they are still Marvell controllers and the driver is crashing, repalce/swap cables for parity2 and try again, post new diags if it still fails.

Alright, I’ve had the Marvell controllers for about seven years. Do you have any recommendations if I want to replace them? I know they don’t work well with the “Fix Common Problems” add-on, every scan I get yelled at because I am using them lol, but I haven’t had any issues with them until now. Either way, I can replace them if you think that’s the problem. I’ll try again when I get home this weekend, remount them, and give it another shot.

Thank you, Jorge )

Hahaha, I was just looking at that right now. I have a Supermicro X9DR3-F with 2× Intel® Xeon® E5-2670 CPUs @ 2.60GHz, 128 GiB DDR3 Multi-bit ECC, and about 75 TB of storage (currently). I’ll need to check it when I get home—I forgot what I plugged in or not, you know? I haven’t touched the inside for about five years or so, lol.

I moved to a different slot and that took it. Thank you, Jorge. Now, what I understand, I can just stop the array and replace the 12 with the 24 and start it up?

If all is OK and parity is valid, yes.
