Is there any hope for me...Array showing 8 of 13 Drives as Unformatted

Featured Replies

Upgraded from 4.7 to 5.0-rc3 this afternoon.

Not sure what I did wrong....but this is what my array is showing:Screen%2520Shot%25202012-06-03%2520at%25207.41.04%2520PM.png

As you can see, disk6-disk13 are all showing up as Unformatted, they all have media files on them. A parity-synch is currently in-progress (57%)...

Please guide me or point me to what I need to know.  I'm pretty pissed at myself right now for sure :)

Thank you in advance!

Mike

Whatever you do, do not press the "Format" button.

Before you do ANYTHING else...

Capture and attach to your next post a syslog.

Then, describe, in detail what steps you performed for the upgrade.

To unRAID, unformatted simply means unable to mount the drive as expected.

It could be because in the process of upgrading, it rewrote the MBR on the disks pointing it to the wrong starting sector (hopefully, it will be as simple as that, as that is easy to fix)

So... first step is for you to describe to Tom@lime-tech and the rest of us what steps you performed.  Then, you can follow the steps outlined in this thread to learn how those disks are partitioned and how unRAID thinks they are partitioned...

Lastly is to get them to where they can be mounted once more.

Right, don't click 'Format'...

Is the system log you posted obtained upon first boot of 5.0-rc3?  Looks like it is, but I want to verify.

Click on one of the disks which come up 'unformatted'.  This will take you to the disk settings page for that disk.  Post what you see for:

Partition 1 size:

Partition format:

Click on disk1 and post what you see for those settings on this disk as well.

Finally, go to the Settings tab, click on Disk settings, and post what you see for:

Default partition format:

if all your disks are showing and no red balls any more ...

and the array is running ...

the click on the new permissions script in the scripts tab

it will update all permissions of the files and they will be available for windows

Yeah seriously, dude, you canNOT leave us hanging like that!!!  :P
