Strangely Slow Network Transfers

Featured Replies

I've searched the forum, google, reddit, and youtube, but I can't find this specific issue.

My over the network transfer speeds are HORRIBLE. 19 kb/s. Yes, kb/s.

  1. I get the same transfer speeds via wired connection.

  1. Computer to computer transfers on the network are very fast. Except for the Unraid server.

  2. Configurations:

    1. The unraid server components are MSI MAG X670E TOMAHAWK WIFI MoBo, 32GB Ram, 2x 8TB 5400 RPM drives & 2x 6TB 7200 RPM drives.

    2. I have a ubiquity network with a UDM Pro and UniFi 6 APs.

  1. I have jumbo packets enabled on everything 9000 bytes (ubiquity, Unraid, and laptops).

  1. I do not have a cache drive

  2. External Drive to Share speeds average around 180 Mb/s.

  3. I'm trying to transfer using unraid's built in upload feature from Shares (not a SMB or NFS share I'm not a networking guy and I haven't tried this yet)

  4. I've tried transferring from a windows machine and a linux machine speeds are exactly the same.

  5. I have Reconstructive Write turned on.

I don't want to install a cache drive yet. With speeds this bad, I can't believe that would be the problem. Anybody have any ideas?

I appreciate you guys helping. Like I said, I tried enabling jumbo packets as a fix, because I saw a lot of people pushing that as a fix for "slow" 20Mb/s transfer speeds. I'm transferring a bunch of stuff right now, I don't think I should mess with the configuration.

Start by running an iperf test, single stream in one direction, then the other one (-R)

I'll run this and report as soon as I get home after work today.

Alright, I guess I'm still waiting unless I'm doing something wrong... I installed the iperf docker container, but every time I try to run iperf -s on it's container console it tells me the address is already in use even thought the docker has it's own ip. So I think I have to wait until my transfers complete. Current estimated time until completed is 55 hours.

iperf3 comes included with Unraid, no need to install anything
