Creating usb drive from backup

Featured Replies

For an unknown reason, my usb drive got corrupted today. Not to worry, I thought, I use the unraid connect flash backup. I followed this guide https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/system-administration/maintain-and-update/changing-the-flash-device/ to create a new drive. Problem is, it does not boot. I tried different drives (also the old one that worked before). The make bootable script also doens't work, as the syslinux folder remains emtpy. I guess it shouldn't be?

What am I missing here? I'm getting pretty desperate about losing all my stuff when I thought I'm safe with the unraid connect backup.

try recreating the flash drive using the USB tool, confirm the flash drive boots with the stock install, and if yes, restore only the /config folder from the backup overwriting any existing files.

The solution was to manually recreate the drive from the backup. Somehow the tool didn't write all the necessary files. Server is online again :)
