since my internet is only 3 megabit its very slow

and installing dockers or updates and the download failes due to loss of internet causes issues.. it seems there is no resume and be nice

so like google chrome is a 1gb file if i managed to download up to 93% and takes over an hour or more to download if it fails.. and i re install the docker after it fails.. it doesnt resume.. it starts back at 0% it be nice if unraid could resume the files where it last left off at 93% not at 0

Unfortunately this isnt really an unRAID thing this is a function of the Docker Engine. When you update or install a docker container, either with unRAID or any other docker frontend, the docker pull command is running to pull the latest image into the docker store. Images are pulled layer by layer and if an interruption occurs any partially downloaded layers are lost. Any fully downloaded layers should remain on your system and you should only have to download the incomplete layers, however some docker containers have large layers which i assume you are talking about.

i know i have the same issue with downloading unraid updates.. if it fails it doesnt also resume.. you gotta download the whole damn thing again

i find that even though it says it downloads 100% so like if its got a 1gb and 800meg file and if it downloads 100% the 800 and it craps out you gotta re download that 800 meg..

its frustrating... cuz you think there be a resume... cuz unraid updates are just as bad...

and i know from learning the github has a new thing if you cant download a file within 5 min it resets... so i have for windows a download manager.. that can resume github downloads.. so its able to resume github large files like 1gb.. so when my internet craps out it can resume... works well for that as i was struggling in windows to download from github as files would reset cancel out 5 min from starting only to find github does it on purpose... so download manager solves that... too bad unraid couldnt do that with the docker installs or least the unraid update..

but it is frustrating and all u do is pray internet doesnt crap out with fingers crossed on large files

Unraid updates are a different story. That is fully within Limetech's ability to handle. You should probably make it clear in the request that you are talking about two distinct issues. Resumable docker image pulls and resumable unraid update downloads.

ah ok i can do that too.. i just wish docker updates and installs there be a way like you can do it in windows with download manager to get github files on a poor internet connection as it can resume be nice if unraid had it built in to do the same with it pulls those updates... but ya i can do another one for unraid updates too

This statement is a bit confusing. Assuming we are are still talking about pulling docker images, they dont come from github. Docker images come from a container registry, typically hub.docker.com sometimes ghcr.io (which is technically provided by github the company but is not the same as pulling from a github repo).

well when you ever goto the project or support page its github and the files located at github.. so i figured ur downloading from github when the files are from the app store..

so i wouldnt know i just know if you got a problem it goes directly to github.. i dont know hub.docker or the ghcr.io
