[SOLVED] Shares not showing in 'SHARES'

Featured Replies

I have been troubleshooting some issues with my cache settings and in the process I have removed several plugins like 'Mover tuning plugin', 'Unbalanced', and 'Unassigned Devices'

I did cleanly reboot the server several times too and after one of the reboots I noticed that no shares show on the 'SHARES' tab anymore. They do show up on 'DASHBOARD' but in SHARES I only get 'There are no exportable disk shares'

Is there a way to recover from this? tower-diagnostics-20260125-1722.zip

I have been looking at different articles and playing wit things.

Situation resolved itself after I stopped array, went to Settings -> Global Share Settings and just re-applied settings there without any changes.

After starting array all Shares showed up on SHARES tab.

I don't recommend sharing disks on the network.

You should fix these:

Ideally, docker/VM related shares - appdata, domains, system - should have all files on cache or other pool with nothing on the array, so dockers/VMs will perform better, and so array disks can spin down since these files are always open.

Thank you for advice!
I didn't and don't have any drive shares - main issue was that all my user shares disappeared from that list.

Regarding cache - initial problem was that for some reason cache was filling up but files never were actually transferred to array and even when I set all shares to 'Array only' nothing changed and then I 'lost' all the shares trying to fix that.

I've dealt with this partially now and moved some data manually to re-enable cache but will need to read more about how to properly clean all this and set those suggested 3 shares to use cache/pool exclusively so that I am not going to run into similar situation again.

To stop the cache filling up you need to make sure you have set a suitable Minimum Free Space value for the share. Changing a share to be array only does not cause any existing files to be moved. For them to be moved you need ‘cache’ pool as Primary, Array as secondary, mover as cache->array.

Thanks again! I did have some problems as the 'Mover action' was not showing up for some reason.

Got it fixed and setup appdata, domains, system as you suggested. Will observe how this is going and if everything will work as expected will consider changing it for other selected shares too.

You have to set Secondary before it will.
