Movies Share and Files Just Disappeared!

Featured Replies

I was working on the SMB movie share, and it just disappeared! What's more, I cannot find any movies on the disks in my array. About 250 movies gone! Plus Disk1 and 2 are now significantly smaller. I think the data was wiped out.

When I go into Plex, it shows posters for the 250 movies, but of course, none will play.

I reconstituted the move shae /luser/downloads/movie and then downloaded a movie. That share disappeared!

I really only have about 10 movies that I want to download but at this point I cannot put them into the movie share that keeps disappearing.

I rebotted several times.

If someone could tell what the hell happened and how I can reestablish and buiild on the movies share, it would be most appreciated.

PS: tv_shows share is working fine

Diagnostic attached.

Unclear how you are using that path. It is not a valid path to mounted storage in Unraid.

Hi trurl,

It is analogous to /user/downloads/tv_shows, which is where my TV shows are used by Plex. It is working fine.

Is userr/movies a valid path?

Depends on your definition of a valid path. All 'user' shares are mounted on the Unraid path of /mnt/user/share_name as shown below:

Any location that is not under /mnt is actually on the RAM disk that Unraid uses for system files. Since it is a RAM disk, anything written there will lost when the server is rebooted!

You probably need to go to the support thread for the Plex distribution that you are using for instructions on how to map from the distribution to the Unraid file system. IF you are using a Docker Container— most Unraid Plex users use one of the Plex Docker containers, click on the container icon and look look here:

What you will be doing is mapping a 'container path' to a Host path. (The container path is inside the container and the host path is on the Unraid server. What happens is that the container writes a file to its container path, Docker will actually redirect the file to the location on your Unraid server defined by the 'host path'.)

/mnt/user/downloads is a valid path to a user share named downloads. Just /user/downloads (not preceded by /mnt) is not mounted storage.

/mnt/user/movies is a valid path to a user share named movies. userr/movies (or without the typo user/movies) is a relative path (since there is no / at the beginning) so where exactly it is depends on the context.

I am pretty sure a setting in the SABnzb docker erases my MOVIES folder from my UNRAID shares. That solves the question for me.
