Popcorn Hour Connection Refused by Server (UNRAID) (SOLVED)

Featured Replies

This has become annoying. Ever since I have upgraded from RC3 to RC4 my Popcorn A200 and A300 won't access the Unraid server. My laptop and PC see it fine and I was playing movies and writing to it from them. On the A200 I get Connection Refused by Server (UNRAID) and on the A300 I get enter password.

Both Popcorns can access the internet.

I have plugged the unraid and popcorns into a adsl modem/router.

Any ideas?

New_Text_Document.txt

"new permissions" ...

barring that you'll likely need to included your share security settings in your post to get useful advice.

Already did the new permissions thing and it didn't work. The hdd are hidden but they are exported. I have two shares. Both are on export and Public security.

can you reset the PCH to clear any cached credentials?

You probably need to change the access credentials in the PCH config for accessing unRAID.

I reset the Popcorn but still nothing. I think there is something wrong with RC4. My popcorn sees other devices and accesses them fine. There are no access credentails in the popcorn.

I have downgraded to RC3 and its working again.

I haven't upgrade to RC4 yet.  I'll wait until further testing is done with media players shares.  I don't want to upgrade and then things do not work anymore.

FWIW, I am on RC4 and using a Boxee Box with SMB ... so far working great.

Same here..Boxee Box + SMB.  I'll try the WDTV Live tonight.

boxeebox and xbmc/htpc running great here...

Let me guess...you use your root account on the C200 to access your shares? I had the same problem. Just add another user and try it again. It will most likely work.

Bye.

Probably in the past, when you first created the share in the PCH, you had to enter 'root' as the user name.  That doesn't work anymore.  For the C-200 I did this:

- Go to Settings in the main menu

- Select Network Share

- For each share on the server, Edit that share

- for username, enter anything, I entered PCH

- Save

That's it.  This is assumes the share security on the server is 'Public' for the share you're accessing on the PCH.

+1 for this my NTV550 I had root as username stopped working when I upgraded to rc4 now all good with a different username.

On the share page on the A200/A300 I left the username and password fields blank.

Can someone tell me set by step on what I am supposed to do?

Hi!

Tom already did this. If you want to access unRAID via SMB you have to create a user through the web GUI. Enter a username and password of your choice. Now use the network browser of the A200/A300 to search for your SMB shares on your server and add it (blue key) to the list of your network shares. For the access you need the username and password which you have already defined through the web GUI.

That's it.

Bye.

or make your share public.

I like the way it is setup with the RC4 release.

My shares are public.

with read access?

guess you'll have to follow shire's advice.

Strange though...the Boxee doesn't require a username.

Yes with read access.

Yes with read access.

Let's say your share is named "Movies".  With the C-200 when you "edit" the Movies share in the PCH (or create it), there are two fields: user name, and password.  If your Movies share on the server is set up as 'Public' then you don't have to create any users on the server.  On the PCH you can enter almost anything (except root) for username.  I used the string "PCH".  You don't have to enter anything for password.

Thanks that worked!
