February 1Feb 1 Hey folks, disk 6 in my server was showing as failed, so I swapped it out per the documented procedure. After adding the replacement drive to the disk 6 slot and starting the array to rebuild it, the Main page hung. I checked the syslog and found hundreds of 'disk8 read error' messages. There is an audible clicking coming from disk 8. I think it may have failed. I have not stopped, cancelled, or restarted anything since attempting to start the array. The server has 2 parity drives. What are my next steps?Motherboard is a Supermicro X10SLH-F with 24 GB of ECC RAM. Parity 1 and disks 1-7 are attached to a PERC H310, Parity 2 and disk 8 are attached to SATA ports on the motherboard. There are 4 cache SSDs which are also attached to SATA ports. The diagnostics zip is attached. It looks like the SMART health check did not complete for disk 8.Let me know if you need any more information, and thanks in advance for any help you can provide. tower-diagnostics-20260201-1625.zip
February 1Feb 1 Community Expert In what way was disk6 "failed"? Do you still have the original? You probably disturbed connections when replacing disk.Check connections, all disks, both ends, SATA and power, including splitters. Can't tell anything about your filesystems since you were rebuilding in Maintenance mode. After checking connections, start the array in Normal (not Maintenance) mode and post new diagnostics.
