September 13, 200619 yr This in the Identification Section. Also next to User Shares what do the asteriks mean?
September 13, 200619 yr Master Browser, if 'Yes' configures Samba on unRAID Server to try to become the local network Master Browser - this will force a "broswer election". If your server is up 24/7, you might want to say 'Yes' here. If some other Windows PC is on 24/7 you might want to say 'No' here. Google "Windows Master Browser" for more info on this subject. This feature was added per customer request. The 'asterisk' next to the User Shares indicate that the share is "mostly writeable" at this time. I plan on putting up some documentaton on this soon, but in a nutshell... say you have the same top-leve directory on 2 or more disks, say, 'Movies' like this: disk1/Movies/Action disk1/Movies/Kids disk2/Movies/Action disk2/Movies/Drama So 'Movies' will be exported as a share and you'll see these directories underneath: Movies/Action Movies/Drama Movies/Kiids If you navigate into Drama or Kids, those directories will be fully read/write. But if you navigate into Action, you will see the combined contents of disk1/Movies/Action and disk2/Movies/Action, but they will be read-only. But moving one level deeper, for example Movies/Action/Terminator, that directory will be read/write (because it's unique). Confusing? That's why there's an asterisk. We'll fix this down the road...

Tom, I understand.. Thanks for the explanations. So far I really enjoy the sharing across volumes. An awesome feature!
September 14, 200619 yr Tom, My present unRaid file structure is as follows: disk1/My Movies1 . . . . disk11/My Movies11 How will this structure appear? Regards, TCIII
September 14, 200619 yr Is this active currently? By default it's turned off. Go to Shares page and select one of the export options for the 'User shares'. The 'Re-scan' button is there in case you added/deleted file(s) in one of the 'write-only' directories (see discussion of 'asterisc' above).
