Array has 1 SMART error.

Featured Replies

Hello folks,

I woke up to a message saying Array has 1 SMART error in my Array on my Unraid, I did look it up online and not sure what could cause it and how to fix it but I did execute SMART extended self-test and the result for the "Last SMART test result" is Completed: read failure.

The error I found in the log is the following:

Error log

Error 1 [0] occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 58738 hours (2447 days + 10 hours)

So from now on, I am not sure what is the next step, because if I actually need to replace the drive, is there a way to know which SATA port is it plugged in? I have 10 HDD conected to my server with a SATA boards and I am not sure how to know which one match the disk 5.

I am not really good at reading the logs, so I have attached it to the topic:

tower-smart-20260209-0856.zip

Anyway, thank you for your help!

Disk5 should definitely be replaced since it failed extended test.

lsscsi has this for sdi

[7:0:1:0] disk ATA ST2000DM006-2DM1 CC26 /dev/sdi /dev/sg8
  state=running queue_depth=32 scsi_level=7 type=0 device_blocked=0 timeout=30
  dir: /sys/bus/scsi/devices/7:0:1:0 [/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:00.0/host7/port-7:1/end_device-7:1/target7:0:1/7:0:1:0]

On this controller then

01:00.0 Serial Attached SCSI controller [0107]: Broadcom / LSI SAS2308 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-2 [1000:0087] (rev 05)
	Subsystem: Broadcom / LSI 9207-8i SAS2.1 HBA [1000:3020]

Not completely sure how to pin down the port from that, but only one other drive there (sdh), all others on motherboard, and sdi appears to be the 2nd one connected.

Do any of your other drives have SMART warnings (👎) on the DASHBOARD page?

Hello,

Do any of your other drives have SMART warnings (👎) on the DASHBOARD page?

All other drives are fine on the DASHBOARD page.

Not completely sure how to pin down the port from that, but only one other drive there (sdh), all others on motherboard, and sdi appears to be the 2nd one connected.

Thank for this. Maybe I could also look at Serial Number?
