Unraid doesn't boot. Old motherboard.

Hello there,

I was hopping to get some help. I am several hours into troubleshooting, reading the threads here, trying to make the stick boot.
Stick is a CRUISER 8GB, motherboard an ASUS A88XX-Plus.

I had Unraid 6.x installed on this machine, and it was working perfectly. But the stick lost during transport.

I am trying to recover using the latest 7.x version using unraid-usb-creator-1.1.0.

I have tried, many different combinations of the settings below. It either loops to bios, or shows a message:

"The system cannot find the EUFI driver for the add-on storage devices"

I have tried:

  • Enabling CMS (tried Legacy OpROM, UEFI first and different combinations of those)

  • Disabling Fast Boot Mode

  • Tried to run the bootable script in the stick

  • Make sure that EFI folder don't have a dash. Tried adding a dash. Tried deleting the folder all together.

  • Tried different combinations of the aboves

  • Tried combinations in Secure Boot -> Platform Key (PK) set to Other OS (also tried Windows UEFI mode)

  • Tried swapping USB ports (both USB3 and USB2).

So far all failed. I am wondering if I am missing something, or if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Try using RUFUS to format the flash drive, then do a manual install:

- Open Rufus and change "Boot selection" to "Freedos"

- Set the "Volume label" to UNRAID

- set filesytem to FAT32

- click START

- once done, unpack the Unraid ZIP to the flash drive

If you are booting UEFI nothing else you need to do, if you are booting legacy/CSM, run the make_bootable.bat as administrator first.
