June 8, 201214 yr My syslog keeps filling with spindown messages. How can I set spindown for that disk to never. It's not a real disk but a RAID-volume on an Areca 1200 controller.
June 8, 201214 yr On your webUI, click on the link corresponding to the disk you want to set (e. g. disk). From there, spindown is one of the pulldown menus.
June 9, 201214 yr Author If I set a spindown to never for the parity disk, will I then be able to stop the array when needed? Or must the parity disk be spundown manually in that case?
June 9, 201214 yr If I set a spindown to never for the parity disk, will I then be able to stop the array when needed? Or must the parity disk be spundown manually in that case? no, the spin-down choices do not affect the ability to stop the array, regardless of the disk, parity, or data. Disks that are busy (open files, current working directory of processes, mount-points, enabled swap-files) will prevent an array from stopping.
