March 10Mar 10 I have a Problem with re-enabling my Disk, the Disk 2 ist "disabled", propably because there were Connection Problems. The Extended SMART Test said "No errors".So i wanted to re-enable it. I did:-Stop the Array-Unassign the Disk 2 (switch to "no device")-Start the Array (Disk 2 says "Not installed")-Stop the ArrayThe original Disk 2 is now automatically chosen again in Slot 2 of Array-Start the ArrayDisk 2 still shows "disabled" !What do i do wrong? Do i have to format the Disk, before I start the Array? That's not what it says in the instructions.
March 10Mar 10 Community Expert You are likely to get more informed feedback if you attach your system's diagnostics zip file to your next post in this thread. It is always a good idea to do this to allow us to see the current state of your system and so we can see logs and configuration information.

March 10Mar 10 Community Expert The end of the syslog in the diagnostics is showing repeatingMar 7 12:18:57 UNRAID kernel: critical medium error, dev sdc, sector 1302606 op 0x0:(READ) flags 0x0 phys_seg 1 prio class 2Mar 7 12:18:57 UNRAID kernel: sd 36:0:0:0: [sdc] tag#0 UNKNOWN(0x2003) Result: hostbyte=0x00 driverbyte=DRIVER_OK cmd_age=0sMar 7 12:18:57 UNRAID kernel: sd 36:0:0:0: [sdc] tag#0 Sense Key : 0x3 [current] Mar 7 12:18:57 UNRAID kernel: sd 36:0:0:0: [sdc] tag#0 ASC=0x11 ASCQ=0x0 Mar 7 12:18:57 UNRAID kernel: sd 36:0:0:0: [sdc] tag#0 CDB: opcode=0x28 28 00 00 13 e0 4e 00 00 01 00which indicates a problem with the flash drive which I expect explains your symptoms as it would mean that Unraid cannot save the disk configuration.

I have found the "solution" for me, i had to restart Unraid in "Safe Mode" and i was able to re-assign the Disk without Problems. That wouldn't fit with the error affecting the USB flash drive, or is there a connection? If it is always necessary, why does the documentation not state that you have to boot in safe mode before re-assigning Disks?
March 11Mar 11 Community Expert Just now, piers-93 said:why does the documentation not state that you have to boot in safe mode before re-assigning Disks?Because that's not needed, problem before was most likley related to the flash drive issues; monitor for more related errors.
