Hello,

My unraid server occasionally locks up and I must power cycle it. When this happens, I am unable to ping any docker containers or VMs, however I can ping the unRAID IP address but unable to connect to unraid using HTTP/SSH.

The server is headless and when this happened previously I hooked up a monitor and keyboard and I was able to login but couldn't browse /boot so I always thought It was a flash drive issue. (I have replaced the flash drive multiple times before.)

With the announcement of internal boot, I upgraded and moved to 7.3.0. internal boot thinking this would solve my issue however it has happened again a couple times since. I understand 7.3.0 is currently beta but this issue happened pre 7.3.0 with multiple prior versions.

I have enabled syslog logging to flash (and also a syslog server) however there doesnt seem any useful information logged at the time of a crash.

I have attached a diagnostic log and the motherboard is a Asus ASRock X570 Taichi with a AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core @ 3700 MHz. The server has a 2.5Gbps PCI card installed although this issue started pre installing this card. I have also tried enabling various compatibility options in the boot options which you should see in the diagnostic attached. BIOS cstates is disabled.

Do you have the Unraid Connect plugin installed? If so, try uninstalling it and seeing if the problem resolves itself. Crazy, I know, but I had the same issue for a year+ and the plugin turned out to be the culprit.

I am also having this issue. My wife will text me that Plex is down and I go to check my server and I cannot access anything whatsoever.

If I log into my router I can still see the server as connected to the network but nothing is accessible.

I've since installed a Govee wifi plug so that I can reboot remotely. This is a ridiculous fix, I know, but it keeps my family happy.

I'm not really sure how to troubleshoot this. The syslogs don't show anything after a reboot and I don't know how else to access the logs before a shutdown.

I don't use or have the unraid connect plugin installed.

CStates should already be disabled in the BIOS. I didnt know about the CPU voltage so I'll double check cstates when Im in the BIOS modifying the CPU voltage. I'll probably have a bash at this on Friday. Thanks!

haha, me too... I've gone one better though - I installed HomeAssistant on a spare Raspberry Pi that I had lying about. It pings the IP address of my gateway, switches, unraid and some unraid VM/dockers... when the unraid VM/Docker pings stop responding for 5 mins, but the gateway and switches remain up, then it reboots my unraid smart plug!

Obviously this is not a solution, but it reduces the headache of unraid being down as I run a Home Assistant VM on my unraid box which controls pretty much everything around the house (Intruder alarm, CCTV, Lightening, Heating, Power (inverter & battery storage) and various sockets... The Home Assistant VM is now fairly critical to my and my familys lifes and the house now depends on it!

So, my server just did this again this morning. I had kept the server GUI up on a browser and can see that my CPU is pegged at 100% usage, and my RAM is at 92% usage. Everything is completely unresponsive. Again, my router says that the server is still connected to the network. My kids really want to watch Plex, so I'm restarting it. I cannot find a way to grab logs from it or do any sort of interaction with it once it does this.

1. Enable the remote syslog server to capture system logs between reboots.
   2. Are you transcoding plex to RAM? If that's the case, you probably shouldnt do that without increasing your RAM

Running low on RAM can cause webgui unresponsiveness.

No, I have Plex transcoding to an SSD. Plex is one of my longest-standing dockers on my system and I've never had issues until recently. I haven't changed any settings with Plex, either.

The only docker changes I've made recently are updating some of the *arrs.

I've enabled local syslog according to the instructions on that site as I don't have a remote location for saving syslog files.

It's not just the webgui that's becoming unresponsive. All of the dockers become unresponsive. I forgot to check to see if my shares are working. I'll check that the next time it happens, which, based on frequency, will likely be in a couple of days.

I think I may have discovered the issue with my unraid - I believe it may have been exhausting all available RAM. I have temporarily reduced the ram assigned to a couple of my VMs to free up some available RAM so will see how it goes over the next wee while or so.

When the price of RAM comes back down, I'll probably grab some more sticks. Fingers crossed the price does come down and these crazy prices aren't the new norm!
