Move SSD's

Featured Replies

So here is my issue. I have an old server that I have Unraid on with (3) 1TB ssds installed with data on them. I have setup a new server with Unraid Trial. I need to know how to remove my (3) 1TB ssds from my old server and install into new server. After I do that and everything works well/tested/configured then I need to transfer my lifetime license to it.

  1. How can I transfer the SSD's to my new server with no data loss?

  2. How can I transfer my Lifetime License from my Old server to my New server running the trial?

Thanks

Just assign the devices as they were, and start the array.

Copy the old license to the new flash drive, delete the trial key, then transfer it in Tools - Registration

Best answer I got so far, simple and seemingly effective. If I run into any problems I will report. Thanks again!

Hello again,

I dont know if this was suppose to work or not but what I did was simply insert my SSD's into my new server, and literally just brought the USB from old server into the new server and booted it up. I ran all the verifications/checks and everything is working just fine! I didnt even need a secondary usb key.

This brings Me to my next question, I have the secondary USB drive that I was originally trying to use on the new server. I am going to format it and use it for something else now that I got my new server running but my questions are.

  1. Eventhough my new server seems to be working fine how can I verify everything is working correctly before repurposing the old server and usb?

  2. How can I register the new server properly with Unraid (it says its connected however some of the paid features aren't working (like Docker for example)?

  • I know its the weekend and I dont expect a reply right away but I am hoping someone is bored and comes across this thread. )

  • Thanks!

That's not related to the license; you can post the diagnostics to try and see the problem.

It seems that everything is working now that I got my license fully transfered. If I run into any problems I will open a new thread. Thanks.
