unassigned devices : copying data from array to a usb hard drive

Featured Replies

HI

I'm trying to copy some data from my array to an external usb hard drive. I've installed unassigned devices plugin but my usb hard drive doesn't show up under unassigned devices in the main tab of the gui.

Can anyone help me?

Please post diagnostics with the USB drive attached. Also can you provide a screenshot of the webgui page where you expect to see the USB HDD. Thanks (helps when we see what you see)

I would also suggest installing the Unassigned Devices Plus plugin as well as it may be necessary.

I'm not seeing any USB drive listed. Unplug it, plug it in again, and grab new diags immediately after.

Still nothing. Have you tried another port?

Can you tell us more about the USB drive? Got a link to the product?

No USB device is being detected, like if it wasn't even plugged in. This is not an Unraid or UD issue.

hi. yes I plugged it into another port for the second diag.

Its a Seagate 1TB model SRD0NF1

Does it work if you plug it in to another computer?

yes, absolutely. Ive also tried with several usb sticks and still nothing comes up

Can you see it as an Unassigned Device if you boot in SAFE mode? (You won't be able to mount it since the plugins won't be installed).

I'll give it a go in about an hour. I'm just finishing off a parity check atm

Doesn't really look like you have any plugins that might be a problem anyway.

You mean other USB drives also don't show as Unassigned Devices?

Are you trying to run Unraid as a VM?

Ive tried some USB thumb drives to see if they would show up, but no luck.

I've no idea how to run Unraid as a VM, so I guess no.

I assume you are booting Unraid from a USB flash drive. Correct?

Have you ever tried to use an Unassigned Device before on this hardware?

Are you using ports on the I/O panel (the back)? Or are you trying to use ports on the case (which might not even be connected)?

ports on the back

Maybe try powering down and even unplugging your server for a minute in case something is not resetting with your USB controllers.

Can you see the USB drive in BIOS?
