Moving existing disk in array keeping data integrity from one assigned slot to another ? Possible ?

Featured Replies

Hi All

When i first setup my Unraid Server a number of years back I assigned a Parity Disk and then two data drives to Disk 1 and 2 in the array. I used the 1 and 2 slots in the assignment table. For some reason when I later added a temporary third disk I added it as Disk 6 in the assignment. Is it possible to now move that disk within unraid so that it is assigned as Disk 3?

Can i simply stop the array, unnasign disk 6 (noting the serial number of disk that is there) and then simply assign to slot that )represent disk 3) and turn the array back on. Will Unraid be able to this whilst keeping the array as it is now, the data intact?

Thankyou for any help

Yes as long as you only have Parity1 and no Parity2 (parity2 the disk order matters)

1. Stop the array.
2. Tools > New Config (perverse all slots)
3. On the MAIN page, move disk6 slot assignment to the disk3 slot
4. Check "parity is valid" and start the array.
