Switching to new server -> ssd issues

Featured Replies

Hello there,

I recently upgraded from dell wyse 5070 to an elitedesk G6.

Problem is:

Cachepool ssd is an old m2 SATA SSD (m+b key). Also all docker and vm data lies on this drive.

the elitedesk unfortunately does not support the ssd, which I did not know before.

Server boots up just fine with my 2 array HDDs but doesn’t recognize the SSD so Unraid says it’s missing.

I wondered if I can clone the SSD and just tell Unraid the new serial id? Maybe via the ‚new config‘ option?

Or plug in the old ssd via usb enclosure and somehow rebuild the cache to the internal ssd.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe this is my only option?https://forums.unraid.net/topic/46802-faq-for-unraid-v6/#findComment-511923

If you can clone the old SSD to a new device, you can then just reimport the pool:

create a new pool with the same name and number of slots

assign the pool device(s), leave the filesystem set to auto

start the array to import the pool

Simple as that. I’ll try tomorrow and report back. Thank you.

One question: do i need to delete the old pool first or just leave it and delete later

Yes, remove the older one first.

I can’t thank you enough. Whole procedure from cloning to spinning up my array took 30 minutes.

Everything works like before!

Thanks again.
