Will unraid move files from pool primary to secondary drive if secondary is full?

Featured Replies

What I want to make sure of is I run frigate and have 2 drives setup in a pool. One is 500gb SSD and the other is 1tb hdd. I was hoping to have unraid move the files from ssd to hdd every 24hrs. If the hdd is full, will unraid still move the files and will it overwrite older files first? What I'm trying to accomplish is to utilize the ssd for faster searching through footage of the last 24hrs and then move that to the hdd for longer term storage. I'm just worried the mover will recognize the secondary storage is full and then not move anything.

Edit: Let me correct myself lol. I have 2 pools one is frigate ssd and the other is frigate hdd. They use one "share". The ssd is primary and the hdd is secondary. All I want to have happen is after 24hrs of time, move the last 24hrs of footage to the hdd for long term storage. Then when the secondary is full make sure that when the mover moves from primary to secondary, it will overwrite older files when it recognizes that the secondary drive is full. If there is a better way of doing this im open to suggestions. I'm kind of a unraid noob and may not know the best way of going about trying to move these files around with the storage i have. Its possible maybe frigate just sees it all as one share and will erase older footage automatically as space is needed?

Your question does not seem to make sense as if the 2 drives are in a pool there is no concept of primary and secondary. Perhaps you need to clarify what you mean.

In addition files should only ever be at a single location as far as Unraid is concerned. As a result mover will not overwrite an existing file that is on both primary and secondary storage if you have manually created a duplicate filename in some way.

Your questions touch on several different settings you need to be aware of and understand.
