June 15, 201214 yr Ok , i got my cache disk now and want to install but i got a few questions regarding it So this way im going to work Unraid powered down Install cache drive Turn on unraid Assign the drive as cache... Then whats the thing with, disk and user share? Each disk share needs to use as cache or something? I'm mixing things up i think Also i'm doubting how to work. The way i do it now is: Using windows machine, downloading nzb, extracting it, then move it over the network to the unraid machine Now i have 2 options: - Use the cache disk to make the copying over the network faster (i think i will start with this) and use the move script - Or use the cache disk and sabnzbd plugin to download it the cache, extract there, and use the move script (so no copying over network but less control of the whole download/extract/repair project

Under the user shares in the setting you can allow the share to use the cache disk or have it disabled. I believe its disabled and you must set it to use cache disk.

Or what when i leave it disabled, and just copy to cache manually and use move sript?
June 15, 201214 yr The cache allows a gain in performance, but sacrificing parity protection until the data is written to the protected array. The mover script runs daily at 3:40am by default. Some users alter the script to run every two hours. I run crashplan, transmission and itunes server off the cache disk. Rajahal has a good sticky thread about to cache or not to cache .... check it out.

June 16, 201214 yr It's pretty much self explanatory....assign the user share to use the cache disk. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Cache_disk
