Absolute Noob - Stopping Array froze WebUI

Featured Replies

To preface this, I am an absolute beginner and only vaguely familiar with Linux as a concept. I thought I'd transfer my homelab from Windows to Unraid because I thought it had enough training wheels for me to get my feet wet.

I got my drives with data successfully added to the array like in the youtube video, everything worked swimmingly. But then when I went to stop the array, the UI stuck and I'm just looking at the wavy loading icon and the system won't advance. Refreshing the web page doesn't do anything.

I have a vague concept of SSH but don't even really know where to start with it. I could reboot my server but I'm a little worried about the data since stopping the array is a disk operation. So right now, the only way I know to interface with Unraid is through the WebUI, which is currently unresponsive.

Please help. Be gentle to this Windows expat.

At the moment I do. I did figure out that the webui just seems to lock up after stopping the array, but completely reloading the gui seems to get it unstuck. So maybe it's a bug in the current version (I'm using 7.2.5, forgot to put that in my first post). The status indicator at the bottom refreshes and says Array Stopped in red, but the wavy throbber never goes away and the page just constantly tries to refresh. It takes a full gui reload to get functional again.

So maybe this is just a Web UI bug? I did panic a little bit, clearly.

If you can point me to a primer on getting started with SSH though, that might be helpful in the long run.

If you can ssh in, use the powerdown script. While a power cycle is more than you want, this will handle stopping the array.

Honestly, the problem was just the Web UI. It's fragile and I think there might be a bug with the throbber after stopping the array. Reloading the web page fixed it. I was just panicky because this was literally my first experience with Unraid and I was worried about data loss.
